Welcome
“Can Counselling help me?”
Counselling can be helpful for anyone experiencing a dip in self-confidence, a change in mood, feelings of anxiety, depression, sadness, feeling angry, alone or isolated. All of these can be responses to something that has changed; a new development; for example, a sudden loss, a change in the workplace or educational setting, a relationship breakdown, or in something that, however hard you try, just feels too difficult at the moment.
The purpose of counselling is to provide a safe and confidential space, built on trust to talk openly through issues that may be causing you concern.
By talking in a counselling session, sometimes we gain new insight and an understanding of a problem and a possible next step, to help find a way to move forward.
In addition to using a Person-Centred approach, as a counsellor trained in Transactional Analysis, I find that sharing strategies and tools can be helpful. Together we would be exploring new ways to overcome a problem.
I liken this to looking through new lenses’ at something that may be causing you to experience anxiety, isolation, low self-esteem and on occasion, hurt, and in some cases, pain.
